kath levell

Kath is just Kath. She’s been pretty good at fund-finding for the Sand Palace Arts collective over the years – and all that goes with it. Kath has played an instrumental part (drum and bass), in all the major projects Sand Palace Arts have undertaken.

The National Trust, Cadw, outdoor schools and local festivals and events have enjoyed the buzz of constructing weird and wonderful things at the ‘fabrications’ she devises and leads. Workshop is too tame a word!

Writing, drawing, kite and banner-making, improvising on various themes with found and scrap materials is where she’s happiest. Her own work has been exhibited in ancient monuments such as Lamphey Palace and Blickling Hall and in numerous sculpture gardens. Observation, perception, interpretation, i.e. the human response to history, natural sciences and art provide a constantly swaying scaffold for her work.

She has a degree in sculpture and is part way through an English and Writing MA at University of Wales, Aberystwyth. Kath is currently engaged on the Carew 500 Tournament project and plays a mean maracas and thumb harp.
